SPIRITUAL AND BIBLICAL MEANING OF SUNFLOWER FLOWER

Sunflower is a plant originating in North America, whose scientific name is Helianthus annus. The meaning of the sunflower flower is “sun flower”. The name may seem very poetic, but it has a literal meaning, since the plant has the peculiarity of being heliotropic, that is, it rotates the stem always positioning its flower towards the sun.

In relation to the meaning of the sunflower flower figuratively, we can attribute it to happiness. The yellow or orange tones of its petals represent warmth, loyalty, vitality and enthusiasm, reflecting the positive energy of the sun. The sunflower can also represent haughtiness.

FAR BEYOND THE MEANING OF THE SUNFLOWER FLOWER

The sunflower stem can reach up to three meters in height and the plant has several uses, especially its seeds, which are used in the production of cooking oil, biodiesel and bird feed. In addition, sunflower can be used to make lubricants, soaps, and the fiber in its stem is used to make paper.

American Indians grew sunflower for food, using the flower’s grains. According to the story, Francisco Pizarro found several Inca objects with gold molded sunflower flower images, referring to the sun god.

In some cultures, it is believed that leaving sunflower seeds in the sun can cure infertility. In Hungary, there is a belief that if sunflower seeds are placed on the window of a pregnant woman’s house, the child will be born a man. In Spain, those with 11 sunflowers will have their luck by their side.

THE DECORATION WITH THE SUNFLOWER FLOWER

The beauty, exuberance and meaning of the sunflower flower make it a much sought after plant for ornamentation. In addition to these factors, it is believed that the flower brings luck and good vibrations to the environment, being widely used in Feng Shui, because it has characteristics of the sun.

Used in arrangements, potted or in a garden, the sunflower flower is featured in any decor. It is associated with success, fame, longevity, nutrition, warmth and power. When you offer a sunflower to a person who has started a business, you express your desire for success and good fortune.

In paintings, we can highlight the series of paintings “The Sunflowers”, by the Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh. They were produced during their stay in the city of Arles in southern France.

THE MEANING OF THE SUNFLOWER FLOWER AND ITS LEGENDS

Behind the meaning of the sunflower flower there are several legends. Let’s tell here a Greek legend of a pain of love.

Clithia was a young nymph who fell in love with the sun god and watched him every day as he drove his chariot of fire. Helio - the sun god - continued to seduce the young nymph and eventually abandoned her, choosing to stay with her sister. Clithia was very bitter and wept for a full nine days in a field as she watched the sun god pass in his chariot.

Legend has it that the nymph’s body gradually hardened into a thin but resilient stem with firm feet on the floor while her hair turned yellow. The nymph has become a sunflower, which continues to follow her love.

Wishing someone good fortune sounds like something I could really do since my brother has started his own personal business goal in life, and I wanna show my support to him.
