As the ruling planet of Aries and Scorpio, Mars signifies activation, initiation, taking action, and going after what we desire. That’s Mars, the God of War, the one who fights relentlessly for what he wants, regardless of the consequences. Often, our social environment and upbringing lead us to believe that it’s wrong to get angry, fight, argue, or even simply disagree. What would happen if we were true to our emotions? What would happen if we simply surrendered to our impulses?

Yes, our impulse, surely veiled and unconscious, would emerge. Probably not very polished or decorous, but ultimately… real. So, isn’t it better to be honest with ourselves and our emotions and learn and improve our personal and subjective connection, rather than cover it up and hide behind something that must be learned?

For example, having Mars in aspect to Saturn could mean feeling limited in our actions, either because we faced many obstacles as children, or because as adults, authority figures constantly tell us we could do things better.

This doesn’t sound pleasant at all, however, knowing this can transform us and turn us into someone who, by striving day after day, creates structure and takes action and makes decisions. Not bad, right?
