Psalm 52 - Matthew Henry Bible Commentary

Those who think to rely on power and wealth, without God, are miserably deceived. The evil man trusts in the abundance of his riches; he thinks that his wickedness will help him preserve his wealth. Good or bad, he would get what he could and keep it, and ruin anyone who stood in his way; he thinks this will strengthen him; but, see what it comes down to! -Those who by faith and love live in the house of God will be like green olive trees.

To be like green olive trees, we must lead a life of faith and holy trust in God and his grace. It contributes much to the beauty of our profession of faith and to the fruitfulness of all grace, that we are praising God; and may we never lack material to praise him. Only his name can be our refuge and our strong tower. It is very good that we hope in his saving name; To calm and quiet our spirit when it is disturbed, and to keep us on the path of duty, when we are tempted to use any crooked device for our relief, nothing is better than hope and quietly awaiting the Lord’s salvation. Whoever followed your direction will end well.
