The God of gods, Jehovah, has spoken
and summoned the earth from the rising of the sun to its setting.
From Zion, perfection of beauty,
God has shone.
Our God will come and will not be silent;
fire will consume before him,
and around him there will be a great storm.
He will summon the heavens from on high
and to the earth, to judge his people.
Gather for me my saints,
who made a covenant with me by sacrifice.
And the heavens will proclaim his righteousness,
for God is the judge. Selah
Hear, my people, and I will speak;
O Israel, I will testify against you.
I am God, your God.
I will not rebuke you for your sacrifices
or burnt offerings, which are always before me.
I will not take calves from your house
or goats from your pens.
For mine is every beast of the forest
and cattle on a thousand hills.
I know all the birds of the mountains,
and everything that moves in the field belongs to me.
If I were hungry, I would not tell you,
because the world and its fullness is mine.
Should I eat the meat of bulls
or drink the blood of goats?
Offer your gratitude to God,
and pay your vows to the Most High.
And call upon me in the day of trouble;
I will deliver you, and you will honor me.
But to the wicked God said:
What right have you to recite my statutes
and to take my covenant in your mouth?
For you hate discipline
and turn your back on my words.
If you saw the thief, you were pleased with him,
and with adulterers it was your share.
You put your mouth into evil,
and your tongue devised deception.
You sat down and spoke against your brother;
you slandered your mother’s son.
These things you have done, and I have kept silent;
you thought that I would really be like you;
but I will rebuke you and expose them in front of your eyes.
Now understand this, you who forget God,
lest he tear you apart and there is no one to deliver you.
Whoever offers thanks will honor me;
and to the one who orders his way,
I will show him the salvation of God.
Psalm 50 Meaning
The meaning of Psalm 50 is very interesting, in it they talk about 3 very different sections: THE JUDGE, THE PLAYERS and THE JUDGMENT THAT WILL COME.
This Psalm tells us that when there is a JUDGE it is because there will be a judgment, in this judgment God will judge all our actions and your name will be in his book with all the details about your works that you have done.
When the Psalm speaks about the JUDGED , it is referring to the people of God, to his children and they will be in view of divine justice.
The Psalm also makes a mention of the JUDGMENT THAT WILL COME , in this section God makes a series of mentions telling us that your offerings do not matter if they do not come from your heart, those offerings or good acts should not be an obligation dedicated to God, but a form that is born from you.
