Great is the Lord and greatly praised
in the city of our God, on his holy mountain.
Beautiful elevation, the joy of all the earth
is Mount Zion, on the northern sides,
the city of the great King.
God in his palaces is known as a refuge.
For, behold, the kings have gathered;
they passed together.
When they saw her like this, they marveled,
were amazed and fled.
There a trembling seized them,
pain as of a woman in labor.
With an east wind you break
the ships of Tarshish.
As we have heard, so we have seen
in the city of the Lord of hosts,
in the city of our God.
God will establish it forever. Selah
We remember your mercy, O God,
in the midst of your temple.
According to your name, O God,
so is your praise to the ends of the earth;
your right hand is full of righteousness.
Let Mount Zion be glad;
Let the daughters of Judah rejoice
because of your judgments.
Walk around Zion and surround her;
count its towers.
Set your heart toward his rampart;
go through its palaces,
so that you can tell it to the next generation.
For this God is our God forever and ever;
He will guide us even beyond death.
Psalm 48 Meaning
The meaning of Psalm 48 is very interesting, its authors (the children of Core) declare their gratitude to God, in it we can see two reasons: his love and his care. The Psalms also tells us that the place or home of God is the Church and that it is there where he lives. It is from the Church where his whole being is born and expands to others. The Psalm wants us to see that we put peace and well-being in our lives and acts, always acting with faith in God.
